WeldWerks Brewing Co. is celebrating eight years of serving beer fans in the city of Greeley and surrounding areas with a weekend-long bash of bottle releases, special tappings and a beer brunch March 3-5.

“It’s really wild to step back and realize that eight years have passed,” said Kristin Popcheff, director of Events and Experience. “When we first began, we were hoping that we might have a little success as a small, local watering hole.”

Over the past eight years, the brewery, located at 508 8th Ave. in Greeley, has achieved that mark and much more with its growth in staff, expanding the facility, fostering relationships with other breweries and making a name for themselves with beer fans across the nation.

Established in 2015, WeldWerks Brewing Co. is an award-winning craft brewery recognized for brewing an array of beer styles including Juicy Bits, one of the most highly regarded IPAs in the country. (Courtesy/WeldWerks Brewing Co.)

To celebrate that success and thank community members for their support, WeldWerks will be releasing three specialty bottles: Born in the Drop, EH Taylor Medianoche and Caramel Vanilla Latte Medianoche.

Born in the Drop is a collaboration with Equilibrium Brewery that started as an Imperial Stout aged 29 months in eight-year-old Blanton’s bourbon barrels. The beer is a blend of base recipes for WeldWerk’s popular Medianoche and Equilibrium’s Imperial Barrel-Aged Stout. After the aging process, the brew was conditioned on marshmallow cream, chopped walnuts, cacao nibs and a splash of maple syrup.

EH Taylor Medianoche features a blend of WeldWerk’s Imperial Stout aged in barrel that were used to produce the historic bourbon named after Col. Edmund Haynes Taylor Jr., considered to be the “father of the modern bourbon industry” and the barrels for this blend consisted exclusively of casks used to age the historic bourbon for over six years. After resting the Medianoche for around 27 months in the iconic barrels, the final product features notes of caramel chocolate fudge, maple drizzled popcorn, cinnamon churros and glazed apricots.

For their Caramel Vanilla Latte Medianoche, WeldWerks blended Imperial Stouts aged 25 to 27 months in six year E. H. Taylor Bourbon, 15-year Blanton’s Bourbon and 10-year Eagle Rare Bourbon barrels. After aging, the blend was conditioned on Madagascar vanilla beans, caramel syrup, and cold-brewed espresso. The blend features heavy notes of salted caramel, crème brûlée, rich coffee and light macadamia nut.

All bottle releases are available for purchase in person at the brewery.

Of course, the bottle releases are just a small part of the festivities. The brewery has also scheduled a special tapping of its Single Barrel Medianoche: Candy Bar Medianoche available only on draft.

Candy Bar Medianoche has been aged for 30-months in a freshly emptied 15-year Sazerac Rye barrel. After aging, the beer was conditioned on caramel, roasted peanuts and milk chocolate “to produce a candy bar in liquid form.”

WeldWerks also plans to release three beer collaborations during the weekend of celebrations.

Thunder Snacks is a collaboration with Pinthouse Brewing. The beer is a combination of Hazy India Pale Ale brewed with Mosaic, Simcoe, Cryo, Incognito hops and Frozen Fresh Hop.

Lumber Juice, a collaboration with Great Notion Brewing, is a Hazy Double India Pale Ale brewed with extra oats and milk sugar.

For This is a Pale Ale, WeldWerks partnered with Our Mutual Friend Brewing to create and old school clear Pale Ale.
